Introduction
A community Wiki is a special kind of internet resource unlike anything else out there. For starters, it is owned and edited completely by the public that uses it. This means that you (yes you right there at your computer) completely own and can change almost any page on this Wiki. That also applies to all your neighbors and friends. The end result is a resource for the community written by the people who live in it every day. Since everybody has different interests and focuses in life, entries tend to be written and edited by people who have the most experience or interest in the subject.
Other Wikis
One of the most famous wikis is the Wikipedia, an encyclopedia that is being edited by the public and translated in many different languages. Various experts from around the world contribute articles, updates and corrections to the Wikipedia constantly. It is only one example of a wiki, although their internal rules are sometimes incorrectly thought to be common to all wikis. Notably, their "neutral point of view" and "no primary research" rules do not apply to many wikis, including this one. Opinions and especially primary research are welcome; don't just tell us a new restaurant exists, tell us what's good and bad about it. And go there yourself to find out.
The Nittany Wiki is loosely based on the Davis Wiki, another community based Wiki for a small rural college town, although across the country in California.
Several community wikis have decided to cross link together via a special entry on each wiki. This entry is called the Wiki Node, and the one for the Nittany Wiki is right here.
