Penn State's sprawling campus lies opposite downtown State College and is always a buzzing hub of activity throughout the valley. Although things slow down during the summer, campus is always full of people going about their day.

Private Companies

Penn State pays the county in lieu of taxes for private companies that are leasing campus property. In September of 2007, the county filed a lawsuit to seize the Panda Express, Visitor's Center and the Penn State Bookstore (which is operated by Barnes and Noble), which the University insist they own outright or (in the case of the Visitor's Center) are operated by a non-profit.
